Laminated glass is a type of safety glass that is made by laminating an interlayer film between two panes of glass at high temperature and pressure using an autoclave. PVB interlayer is mainly used for laminated glass. There are some types of interlayers made from other materials such as EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate). PVB interlayer has the unique advantage of adhesion to the glass, penetration and impact resistance.
Because of its shatterproof function, PVB interlayer for laminated glass is used in many ways where safety and security are required, such as automobile windshields, side door windows and architectural glass. In the automotive industry, the use of laminated glass for windshields is mandatory in almost all of countries such as the U.S, Europe and Japan. The role of glass in terms of comfort and design as well as safety and security is expanding as more bright and open spaces are required today. PVB Interlayer is attracting attention as technology that can enhance the possibilities of glass.
Our high quality PVB Interlayer for laminated glass, S-LEC™ film, is widely adopted all over the world and can bring benefits such as:
・High transparency – For clarity of the glazing.
・Safety – Shatterproof, absorbs impact and prevents accidents.
・Security – Resist impact from a hammer or glass cutters.
・UV Blocking – blocks out 99% of ultraviolet rays.
・Design –Gradient or Colour with different film thicknesses.
・Solar Control – Heat reduction in cars or buildings.
・Sound Acoustic – Quietness by blocking noise from the outside.
・Head-up display – Adaptability with HUD for clear image.
S-LEC™ film provides a wide variety of solutions like safety, security, UV blocking, Sound acoustic, Solar control and Design.
S-LEC™ PVB Interlayer Film has a standard thickness of 0.76mm. This has been decided in the industry to meet the demands for safety and security when an accident occurs where the glass might break.
Please contact us if you have any questions regarding thicknesses in combination with other functions.

S-LEC™ Film is applied for many uses globally thanks to its unique technology and high quality. We bring benefits to laminated glass windows by using outstanding technological expertise.
SEKISUI S-LEC offers a wide variety of solutions for the automotive and architectural market.
S-LEC™ films are currently available in a wide range of standard colours and custom colour options with multiple Tvis (Visible Light Transmittance) to optimize various glass combinations according to a vehicle’s concept.
In addition, our line-up also consists of wide gradient colour that transitions from 2% to >70% Tvis(Visible Light Transmittance). By adapting on windshield or rear window, it creates a feeling of openness and beauty by smooth gradation, providing an advanced design for automotive glass.
S-LEC™ Solar Control Film with fine particle dispersion technology enables comfortable and efficient vehicle design for passengers.
S-LEC™ Sound Acoustic Film reduces the transmission of exterior noises for the highest level of luxury and comfort on the market.
UV-A can penetrate deep into the skin even when you are indoors, causing adverse health effects and damage to objects. Laminated glass made using S-LEC™ Premium UV Blocking Film UA01 blocks over 99.9% of UV rays in the UV-A range.
